About Dr. Cavalaris

Joy Cavalaris, MD, obstetrician and gynecologist, is a member of Palm Beach Obstetrics & Gynecology, the most innovative practice in Palm Beach County, with three locations to serve women throughout their entire life cycle.

Dr. Joy Cavalaris is a native of South Florida and grew up in Miami. Her interest in science began in high school and she set her sights on a career in medicine. She first completed a BA in biology at prestigious Boston University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. After deciding to stay in Boston for her medical training, she entered the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Cavalaris completed her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She served as administrative chief resident during her final year.

Board-certified and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, she has been practicing in West Palm Beach since 2004. Active in many professional organizations, Dr. Cavalaris has served on various committees for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists at the district and national level. She is currently chair of the women’s physician section of the Palm Beach County Medical Society.

Dr. Cavalaris has expertise in advanced laparoscopy, office-based gynecological procedures and high-risk obstetrics. Part of the practice of medicine is to improve care for your own patients as well as others. To that end, Dr. Cavalari serves as a sub-investigator for Altus Research, which conducts clinical trials in areas of women’s health.

She feels strongly about patient education, and realizes that women who are educated about gynecological and obstetric issues can partner with a physician to improve their health. Nutrition, exercise, stress management and other basic lifestyle strategies can go a long way in helping patients achieve health. In addition to her interest in high-risk pregnancy, Dr. Cavalaris works with women and couples who are experiencing fertility problems or who want to plan a pregnancy for the best possible outcome. She tries to keep her patients informed of the latest in technology for pregnancy and baby care through blog articles on the Palm Beach Obstetrics & Gynecology website.
