Why Getting to a Healthy Weight Should Be Your #1 Resolution

As a woman, you think about the health of others all the time. However, there are a lot of reasons why 2016 should be the year that you put your own health first. Even if you make all of your doctor and dentist appointments, and incorporate plenty of fruits and veggies in your diet, a few pounds can make a big difference in your health. Here are just a few reasons why getting to a healthy weight can benefit your health as a woman in the future. 

It will help decrease the side effects of menopause

As you age, keeping your body at a healthy weight and in motion will help decrease the side effects of menopause that can leave women exhausted and depressed. Your body can feel out of whack during this time, and while you won’t be able to completely eliminate all of the side effects, you’ll appreciate only mildly feeling them. If you’re at a healthy weight and still feel like menopause side effects are extreme, then talk to your gynecologists about other solutions that may be available to you.

It will improve your mood

When you’re at a healthy weight, your mood will improve because you’ll have more energy and your stress levels will be lower. While you can maintain your weight with diet alone, it’s recommended to incorporate exercise into your routine. Both diet and exercise play a role in the health of your body and mind, so take care in choosing a routine that will get your heartbeat up.

It will decrease your risk for disease

Women are at risk for different diseases depending on family history, medical history, and lifestyle choices. Extra weight is one of the factors that can put us at risk. However, when you’re not carrying those extra pounds, you’ll decrease your chances of having type II diabetes, breast cancer, and more.

It can improve your fertility

If you’re trying to have a baby but have found that you have a low fertility rate, a healthy weight will improve that. Not only will it improve your chances of getting pregnant, but it will give you a much smoother nine months when you do get pregnant. Don’t wait until you’re pregnant to start to incorporate a healthy diet and exercise routine. Always be sure you talk to your gynecologist before started a diet or exercise routine when pregnant.

It will allow you to sleep better

We’ve all gone without enough sleep some nights, but you won’t suffer from this as often when you’re at a healthy weight. Even if you aren’t at your ideal number on the scale, you will still benefit from a better night’s rest while you are working towards your goals.
